![]() | If you are unfamiliar with some of the battles within the Blank-Gun Rental community, the following letter should prove enlightening. On March 31st, 1999, we received the letter presented below from Centre Firearms on behalf of Mr. Edward Leiter. In the letter it was claimed that we owed Centre Firearms royalty for every firearm that we have ever blanked. It seems that Mr. Leiter had been filing patents on blank fire conversions with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office basicly rewriting "public domain" designs and manufacturing techniques. It appeared that his only purpose in having his lawyer write the letter was to "extort" payments under threat of litigation. These "Patent-Improved" filings were so broad that they even included the imported die-cast blank-fire non-guns. |
![]() | The most vocal among us against Mr. Leiter and his attempts to re-patent existing public domain technology, was Robert "Rock" Galotti. Rock is Nick Cage's Armorer and has one of the longest resumes in this business. We've known Rock for a score of years and have never seen him as mad as he was when this letter arrived on his doorstep. Mr. Leiter's attempt to extort "licensing fees" from every one in the business and get a percentage for every gun ever converted to blank-fire was tantamount to professional suicide. |
After much industry pressure, Mr. Leiter backed down in his efforts to cash in on the rest of us. At the bottom of this page, we have provided links to his alleged patents registered in the Patent and Trademark Office for your entertainment and informational use only. We do not provide them for any other purpose. Do not attempt to replicate, duplicate or copy the designs contained herein. Leave that for experts. | |
